Tom A. Miller

Thomas Andrew Miller passed away suddenly with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ. He had shared 62 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to his late parents Carolyn (Swain) and Hardress Miller, Tom was one of six children to bless the Miller household. He was raised in Berkeley Heights, NJ in his early years and then moved to Mendham, NJ where he graduated from West Morris Mendham High School in 1981. Tom was a three-sport letter winner playing soccer, basketball and baseball winning multiple school, county and state awards. Tom then went on to attend Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia where he participated in the varsity soccer program. He proudly served our country in The National Guard Reserve of the United States where he began his plumbing passion and attending school ultimately earning his Master Plumber license after further study.

Tom married the love of his life and best friend, Audra Nogrady, on October 10, 1992. Their adored son Justin Thomas Miller was conceived shortly thereafter, and they ultimately settled into their forever home in Rockaway Borough. Tom owned and operated Thomas Miller Plumbing & Heating where he was known for his diligent work ethic, honesty and dependability. He worked as a plumber for 40+ years and was employed by Plumbers Local 24 upon his passing. Tom was active in the Rockaway community where he coached youth baseball, soccer and basketball molding future athletes and affectionately known as “Coach Tom”. Always involved in Justin’s life activities, Tom was honored to see his son graduate from both Seton Hall Preparatory High School and Susquehanna University where he participated in the varsity baseball programs at both schools. Tom and Justin were best friends, and he never missed a game so he could enjoy Justin’s success and accomplishments.

Tom was full of life, energy, generosity, and knowledge in both his professional and personal pursuits. He was known by his friends and family as a powerhouse who did not have the word “no” in his vocabulary. He enjoyed playing golf, basketball and softball with his myriad of friends, hunting and fishing, watching the Yankees, dining and socializing with friends and spending time at family holiday functions where he was the loved favorite uncle.

Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his parents, Carolyn and Hardress Miller and his mother in-law Audrey Nogrady and brother-in-law, Scott Nogrady.

His legacy will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Audra; his treasured son, Justin Miller and his fiancé Morgan Kelly; his loving siblings, Peter Miller, Lynn Pierson, Timothy Miller and his wife Kristi, Eric Miller and his wife Beth, and Jennifer Hamilton and her husband Clark; his caring siblings-in-law, Colleen Start and her husband William, Kim Stifter and her husband Gary, and Lisa Nogrady; his cherished nieces and nephews, Joshua Miller; Timothy Jr., David, Alexander and Cameron Miller; Tyler, Kyle, and Kendall Pierson; Rowan, Rebecca, and Bennett Miller; Matthew and Abigail Hamilton; Douglas and Gregory Morgan; and Michael Nogrady; his precious great-niece, Olivia Miller; and many other extended family, friends, and clients.
